Horn Signals
- 1st Horn: Sounds 15 seconds prior to the end of a timeout and the end of halftime.
- 2nd Horn: Players must be on the court and ready for play.
- Player Check-In: All players must verbally report to the scorer before the 1st horn to legally enter the game.
- Coach Reminder: The 1st horn signals it is time to send your team out so they are ready by the 2nd horn.
Coaches’ Responsibilities
- Report your 5 starters to the scorer immediately after taking the court for pregame warm-ups.
- Report your 2nd half starters to the scorer by the 1st horn ending halftime.
- Send substitutes to the scorer immediately at the start of a timeout. Subs must verbally report before the 1st horn.
- Between quarters (1st/2nd and 3rd/4th), subs must verbally report before the 1st horn.
- Clearly tell substitutes who they are replacing before sending them to the table.
- Teach players how to legally check in before your first Padre game.
- Only the head coach may stand within the coaching box (from the baseline to the sideline line near the top of the 3-point arc).
Players’ Responsibilities
- Go to the “X” at midcourt and verbally report to the scorer, stating:
- Their jersey number
- The number of the player they are replacing
- Wait for the scorer to verbally acknowledge the substitution.
- Kneel or sit at the “X” until the referee beckons them into the game.
Game Information
- Each team is allowed:
- 2 full timeouts
- 2 thirty-second timeouts
- With a 15-point lead: No backcourt pressure is allowed.
- With a 20-point lead in the 4th quarter: A running clock will be used for the remainder of the game.
